About

Zenobia jeffries Warfield, ryt500

Founder of Get Even Yoga and an advanced yoga practitioner (RYT500) specializing in therapeutic yoga, with more than 30 years of personal practice.

I use evidence-informed and evidence-based practices to support overall well-being, relieve chronic pain and tension, reduce stress, promote recovery, and lessen discomfort in perimenopausal bodies.

My studies include restorative practices for race-based stress and trauma, and I'm guided by the holistic and integrative principles of yoga therapy, which address the interconnected nature of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

I create welcoming spaces where my clients and participants can cultivate resilience, self-awareness, and deep rest.

A Detroit native (whaddupdoe?!😉), I now reside in the Emerald Ciy, Seattle.

MY SIGNATURE PRACTICE

THERAPEUTIC YOGA

What is yoga therapy? How is it different from yoga?

Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups.

The goals of yoga therapy include eliminating, reducing,

and/or managing symptoms that cause suffering; improving function; helping to prevent the occurrence or

re-occurrence of underlying causes of illness, and moving toward improved health and well-being

Whereas traditional yoga is primarily concerned with personal transcendence on the part of a relatively healthy individual, yoga therapy aims at the holistic treatment of various kinds of psychological or somatic conditions ranging from back problems to emotional distress.

MY STORY

My first TIME EXPERIENCING yoga WAS IN 1995. I was a 20-year-old new mom trying to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy. I'd PUT ON 60lbs!!

I knew very little about yoga. In fact, much of what I'd heard was negative—that yoga was somehow incompatible with my faith—"evil," some said. Yet every time I practiced, I felt peaceful, grounded, and more connected to myself.

Determined to lose weight, I joined a local gym and tried everything: step aerobics, cycling, kickboxing, Pilates, personal training, and yoga. What I didn't realize then was that I wasn't just trying to lose baby weight. I was struggling with body image.

Although I was never overweight, I spent much of my life believing I was. As a teenager and young adult, I cycled through unhealthy behaviors in pursuit of thinness. Looking back, I can see that I was wrestling with body dysmorphia long before I had language for it. For decades, that struggle followed me.

Yoga became the one place where I felt at home in my body. Whenever stress, self-doubt, or overwhelm took hold, yoga helped me reconnect with myself. Through parenting, work, and graduate school, my practice would ebb and flow, but I always found my way back to it.

In 2021, I felt called to deepen my practice and enrolled in yoga teacher training—not because I planned to teach, but because I wanted to learn more. During that time, I left my career as a magazine editor, a transition I had been contemplating for years. By the end of the training, I knew I was meant to teach.

After earning my certification in 2022, I began working with family and friends and quickly discovered my purpose: helping people use yoga as a tool for healing and transformation. Today, I specialize in therapeutic yoga, integrating hatha yoga, mindfulness, breathwork, Yoga Nidra, and sound healing. My goal is to help people reconnect with themselves, heal their relationships, and create positive change in their lives and communities.

I once used writing and editing to explore the impacts of—and solutions to—social injustice. Today, I continue that work through a different medium: the healing practice of yoga.

TESTIMONIAL

People love Zenobia’s yoga. They’re changed by it. I’ve witnessed her sessions at a Shift event transform the spirit of a group

Zenobia’s healing approach to yoga shows my clients how to find peace and balance on and off the mat. She connects what you’re doing on the mat with what you’re doing in the world. That makes Get Even Yoga the perfect partner for my Integrative Nutrition program and events.

I have personally experienced Zenobia’s therapeutic yoga sessions. They are gentle and motivating and give me a lot to think about. When I leave the mat, I carry those vibrations with me all day.

TESTIMONIAL

Zenobia’s journey with Maitreya began in 2023, when she first chose our handmade yoga blankets as thoughtful gifts for her guests. Over time, she began using our yoga mats as well, and through this organic connection, a deep trust was built.

A year later, when I proposed that she become Maitreya’s exclusive distributor in the USA, it felt instinctive and aligned. From the very beginning, I sensed that we could work together for the long term. Zenobia is calm, clear, and deeply grounded—there is no excess communication, no confusion, only mutual respect and clarity. In fact, we had just one meeting before signing, which reflects how naturally aligned our working styles are.

Zenobia is not just a distributor; she is an integral part of Maitreya’s journey. I am deeply grateful that our paths crossed, that she trusted me in our early stage and Maitreya, and that we are building something meaningful together.
